In 2003 we were asked to put forward some design ideas for a window in memory of those lost in the Papa India Air Disaster of 1972. In total 118 people had been killed and, up until that point, there had been no memorial or remembrance of any kind. After several meetings with members of the congregation and the church council a design was decided upon. It was thought that a simple option would be best especially as it was such a sensitive subject matter.
The window depicts a dove of peace flying over the crash site bringing calm and tranquility after turmoil and symbolising the blessing of the holy spirit.
The etched stars around the edge symbolise each person that died and at the bottom of the panels there is a quotation from the bible.
